When to call the midwife — fast reference

Call right now if any of these happen:

  • Heavy vaginal bleeding (more than spotting)
  • Severe headache that doesn't go after rest + water
  • Sudden swelling of face, hands or feet
  • Stomach pain that doesn't ease
  • Blurred vision or seeing spots
  • She can't feel the baby move (after week 24)
  • Fluid leaking from her vagina
  • Fever over 38°C (100.4°F)
  • A fall that hit her belly

You are not over-reacting. Midwives would rather see you for nothing than miss something. Make the call.
